When you accumulate too many black points
Earning 12 and above points leads to suspension. Points stay for 12 months unless cleared. Further violations risk revocation.
If caught performing stunts in public areas
Performing stunts in public is a major offense. ROP may seize the bike and issue fines or court charges on the spot.
If you are found riding under the influence
Riding under the influence leads to arrest, vehicle impoundment, and license revocation. This is treated as a criminal offense.
If your motorcycle is modified illegally
Unauthorized exhausts or lighting can lead to fines of OMR 10 to 30. The vehicle may be detained until restored to legal condition.
When riding with expired registration or insurance
Riders with expired documents face fines starting at OMR 20 and may be banned from operating the motorcycle until resolved.
If you ignore traffic police signals
Ignoring police commands incurs fines from OMR 30 upwards and adds black points to the licence. Serious cases may involve arrest.
When committing more than one offense at once
Violations like no helmet and above speeding add up e.g., OMR 10 and above OMR 20. Black points stack and can lead to suspension quickly.
If you ride in pedestrian-only zones
Riding in restricted zones results in fines up to OMR 30 and black points, especially in public or residential areas.
If your exhaust exceeds noise limits
Loud exhaust systems disturb public peace. The ROP may issue fines ranging from OMR 15 to 25 based on decibel level.
When involved in an accident without reporting it
Failing to report an accident is treated as hit-and-run. Riders may face black points, licence loss, or criminal prosecution.
If you flee from a police checkpoint
Escaping police is considered criminal evasion. It results in arrest, blacklisting, and full seizure of the motorcycle.
When your motorcycle is impounded
You must pay all outstanding fines, towing charges, and daily storage OMR 15 to 30/day to reclaim your bike.
If your vehicle has unpaid traffic fines
Unpaid fines result in system blocks. You cannot renew, insure, or transfer the bike until all dues are cleared.
When a rider accumulates more than 8 black points
Riders with 8 and above points may be required to attend ROP safety courses. It may reduce points and prevent further action.
If you damage property during reckless riding
Public or private property damage must be compensated. The rider may face repair bills and civil lawsuits.
If caught using a mobile phone while riding
Distracted riding due to phones is fined starting from OMR 20. The rider may also receive black points.
