If caught speeding on a motorcycle
Speeding is a traffic offense in Oman, and fines range from OMR 10 to OMR 50 or more depending on how much the rider exceeds the speed limit.
If you ride without insurance
Illegal actions such as reckless driving or unauthorized riding can lead to fines or even detention.
When turning or changing lanes
Clear signaling alerts other road users to your intentions, reducing the risk of collisions.
If you transport a passenger
Carrying a passenger is only legal if the motorcycle has a designated passenger seat and footrests to ensure safety.
If a passenger is under 10 years old
Children below the legal age or individuals not allowed by law are prohibited from riding as passengers on motorcycles.
When riding in a residential zone
The default speed limit in many urban or residential areas is 40 km/h, and riders must follow posted signs when limits differ.
If your motorcycle is modified illegally
Violations such as reckless riding, riding without a license, or illegal modifications can result in fines and impoundment.
When passing vehicles on highways
Motorcycles must only overtake from the left, using indicators or hand signals and ensuring it is safe to pass.

Riders are legally required to present their driving license, motorcycle registration, and insurance upon a traffic officer’s request.

Motorcycles with loud or modified exhausts exceeding permissible noise levels can result in fines under environmental regulations.
If found racing or doing stunts
Engaging in dangerous acts like stunt riding, fleeing police, or riding under the influence may lead to arrest and bike seizure.
When approaching pedestrian crossings
Riders are required to stop and allow pedestrians to safely cross at marked pedestrian crossings.

When overtaking near intersections or curves

When crossing a red traffic light
Serious traffic offenses such as ignoring traffic lights or speeding result in fines and accumulation of demerit points
If stopped at a police checkpoint
Riders must comply with traffic officers, presenting required documents and following all legal instructions.
When transporting items on a motorcycle
Any load carried on the motorcycle must be firmly secured and not exceed legal width to avoid instability and hazards.
If parked in a restricted or no-parking zone
Illegal parking, abandoned vehicles, or serious violations may lead to the motorcycle being towed or impounded by authorities.
When riding in a group or convoy
Riders must keep a safe distance from other vehicles and are prohibited from engaging in street racing, which is illegal and dangerous.
